From the early furniture manufacturers in the City of Jamestown to the storied history of building train engines at the Brooks Locomotive Works in Dunkirk, economic development has been the cornerstone of life in Chautauqua County for the past two centuries. And for the past 50+ years, the County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) has led the charge in assisting businesses of all types grow and flourish, helping to build a strong and vibrant community for our residents.

And CCIDA doesn’t just assist with Manufacturing businesses. Agriculture and Tourism also play a key role in our local economy, along with a variety of other job sectors including Warehousing, Food Processing, the Service and Hospitality industry, Wine and Craft Beverages, Healthcare, Assisted Living, Arts and Education, and more. And a growing number of people are also taking advantage of Chautauqua County’s relatively low cost of living and Economic Development Incentives to move into the area and start their own operation and make their own mark on the region. All of these industries are eligible to receive assistance from CCIDA.

More recently, the Chautauqua County Partnership for Economic Growth (CCPEG) was created to foster economic development and growth within Chautauqua County by bringing together various stakeholders including businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations to promote economic vitality and enhance the quality of life for residents.

So no matter the industry or project, Live CHQ’s parent organizations – CCIDA and CCPEG – are working daily on the economic development front to make Chautauqua County not only a great place to live, but also to work and do business!
