Celebrate local trails with the 2026 CHQ Trails Day – Saturday, June 20 – with a variety of events happening across Chautauqua County!
EVENT SCHEDULE
Guided Canoe/Kayak Trips (Updated June 17)
Location: Celoron Park Boat Launch
Chautauqua lake Outlet
1 Dunham Ave. – Celoron, NY
Time: 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Organizer: Everwild Land Trust (the future of the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy)
Details: For safety reasons along the Cassadaga Creek, Everwild Land Trust has switched locations to do two guided paddles on the Chautauqua Lake outlet and Chadakoin River, leaving from Celeron Park boat launch and ending at McCrae Point Park in Jamestown. It’s a 3.25 mile paddle on flat water through the Chautauqua Lake outlet and onto the Chadakoin River. Anyone interested can continue into Jamestown to the basin (behind comedy center/train station) and back to McCrae Point (an additional 1.5 miles). We will have a shuttle at McCrae Point to bring paddlers and kayaks/canoes back to Celeron.
The first paddle will launch at 9:30 a.m., the second one at 10:30 a.m. Both will be led by Everwild staff. Pre-registration is requested.
Beginner/Intermediate Mountain Bike Ride
Location: Chautauqua Gorge State Forest
Hannum Rd. – Mayville, NY
Time: 10 a.m.
Organizer: Western New York Mountain Bicycling Association (WNYMBA)
Details: Meet at the main parking lot at the end of Hannum Road. Bring water and a snack. Ride will cover the “Gorge Loop” and the Chautauqua Rails to Trails. This is a no-drop beginner/intermediate group ride. Wear a helmet!
Family Friendly Hike at Dobbins Woods
Location: CWC Dobbins Woods Preserve

Time: 10:00 a.m.
Organizer: Everwild Land Trust (the future of the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy)
Details: Nature hike for all abilities and interests.
Family Friendly Hike
Location: Boutwell Hill State Forest – Homestead Loop Project
Arab Hill Truck Trail – Cherry Creek, NY
Time: 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Organizer: Chautauqua County Equestrian Club / Boutwell Hill Ski Club
Details: The Boutweell Ski Club Along with The Chautauqua Equestrian Club will be providing free Wagon Rides to Familys over the Homestead Trail. Food will be provided. There is the posibility of a Hike on the Trail also. Bring bug spray.
Family Picnic & Hike
Location: Portland Town Park

Family Group Hike
Location: Earl Cardot Eastside Overland Trail
Harris Hill State Forest Lot at Corner of Gerry-Ellington Rd., – Gerry, NY
Time: 1 p.m.
Organizer: Chautauqua County Parks Commission and Parks Department
Details: Hike will highlight recent trail work. Length of hike can range from 2 miles to 3.5 miles. Leashed, well behaved pets are welcome
